German PA, from portable to permanent

Brothers Hans and Lothar Stamer started building loudspeaker cabinets in a small workshop in southwestern Germany in 1979. The reputation for craftsmanship spread far enough that they spent years as an OEM for other well-known pro audio names before building systems under their own. Today HK Audio manufactures in St. Wendel with a team of more than 200.

The company's real contribution has been making good sound easy to deploy. L.U.C.A.S. created the compact PA category for solo performers and duos. ELEMENTS brought modular column arrays to small stages. The through-line is systems that one person can carry in, set up correctly without a technician, and rely on.

That matters in this region because so many venues are multi-purpose. A hotel ballroom hosting a conference at nine and a wedding at eight needs a system that works without a specialist on hand for each changeover.

The range at 7HERTZ

  • POLAR 8, 10 and 12 MK2: active column PA in three sizes. Sets up in minutes, covers a room evenly from a slim footprint, and packs into a car. The POLAR 8 is the most compact and the POLAR 12 the most powerful.
  • COSMO line arrays: C 6, C 8 and C 10 passive line array units with 100°, 80° and 60° dispersion that combine in one array, plus the flyable C SUB CF 118 subwoofer.
  • LINEAR 5 MK2: the 115 FA active loudspeaker, plus the 112 XA and 115 XA multifunction units that work as system tops or low-feedback stage monitors.
  • PREMIUM PR:O 12 M: passive 12-inch stage monitor with a 30° monitor angle.
  • P10i and P10j: SI SERIES column loudspeakers for permanent installation, where the cabinet has to disappear into the architecture.
  • FINEO FO 5, FO 8 and FO 12: the installation range. The coaxial FO 5 gives even coverage from a compact cabinet, useful for fills and low-ceiling spaces.
  • S210 V: passive SI SERIES installation subwoofer that adds low end to the P10i and P10j columns.

Where it fits

Corporate and hospitality venues, education, houses of worship, heritage buildings and mobile production. The column products in particular suit spaces where a conventional PA would look wrong or where rigging is not an option.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an HK Audio system cost?
The portable systems are straightforward to price, while installation projects are quoted against a design. Tell us the room or the application and we will come back with a system and a figure.
What is a column PA and when should I use one?
A column array stacks small drivers vertically to give even horizontal coverage from a slim cabinet. It suits rooms where a conventional PA would be visually intrusive or impossible to rig, such as corporate venues, places of worship, heritage buildings and hotel function spaces.
What is the difference between POLAR and LINEAR?
POLAR is the portable column system, designed to be carried and set up in minutes by one person. LINEAR is the conventional active loudspeaker range for higher output. If the system moves every week, POLAR. If it needs to cover a bigger crowd, LINEAR.
Which HK Audio products are for fixed installation?
The FINEO range, the P10i and P10j columns and the S210 V subwoofer. The coaxial FINEO FO 5 is particularly useful for fills and low-ceiling rooms where you need even coverage from a small box.
Do the active systems need external processing?
The active models include onboard amplification and processing, so most portable applications need nothing else. For installation systems we confirm processing requirements at design stage.
Is it easy enough for non-technical staff to operate?
That is much of the point of the range. The portable systems are designed to be set up correctly without a technician, which matters in multi-purpose venues where the person setting up changes week to week. We provide handover training as part of installation projects.
