Driver Configuration and Dispersion

The COSMO C 8 is a passive 2-way mid/high unit with two 8-inch SICA neodymium cone speakers (2.5-inch voice coil) and a 1.4-inch B&C compression driver (3-inch voice coil) on an MCT horn, crossed over at 800Hz with 18 dB/oct slopes. Its 80 degree horizontal by 10 degree vertical dispersion is medium-wide, which makes the C 8 highly versatile, and its asymmetrical sound distribution can be adjusted modularly by pairing it with C 6 and C 10 units for an almost perfect distribution.

Build and Mounting

The bass-reflex cabinet is built from birch plywood with a PU coating in Jet black (RAL 9005) and a steel front grille with anticorrosive coating and acoustic foam backing. It measures 60.0 x 27.0 x 45.0cm, weighs 22.8kg, and has four integrated carrying handles and 3-point rigging hardware. All COSMO mid/high units share the same footprint, so the C 8 needs no adapters and leaves no gaps when combined with C 6 and C 10 units, which makes it ideal as the centre section of a mixed line array.

Amplification and DSP Compatibility

The C 8 is passive and rated at 600W RMS into 8 ohms. HK Audio provides amplifier presets for Lab.gruppen and Lake controllers and for Powersoft Armonia Plus, along with DSP preset files and GLL simulation data for the COSMO family.

Applications

A full-range line array for medium-sized events with required ranges of 30 metres and more. Paired with subwoofers from the C SUB series, it shows its strengths at rock and pop gigs.
