Monitoring in three dimensions

In-ear monitoring solves one problem and creates another. The performer gets a controlled mix, but every source arrives from the same place, stacked in the middle of their head. Over a two-hour set that becomes tiring, and it makes individual parts harder to pick out of a dense mix, which is why the usual response is to ask for more level.

KLANG uses binaural processing to place each source in three-dimensional space around the performer. The brain then sorts and prioritises the mix the way it does in a real room, so sounds merge rather than compete. In practice, engineers report musicians asking for lower levels, not higher, and noticeably less fatigue across a long show.

KLANG joined forces with DiGiCo in 2018, and the console integration that followed is a large part of why the system has spread. Processing latency across the range is around 0.25ms, low enough that performers do not perceive it.

The range at 7HERTZ

  • KLANG:konductor: the flagship processor. 128 input channels, 16 immersive mixes at 48 or 96kHz, three DMI card slots for flexible I/O, a 7-inch touch display and dual redundant power supplies. The choice for large productions and fixed installations.
  • KLANG:vokal: 1U processor giving up to 12 performers their own immersive mix from 64 inputs, with Dante and MADI built in. It sits between the :1 range and the :konductor for bands and theatre.
  • KLANG:1pro and KLANG:1: compact processors delivering one immersive mix from up to 64 input channels. USB-C powered, with Dante and MADI at 48 or 96kHz. The :1 is the lower-cost version, and both work as a MADI to Dante converter in their own right.
  • KLANG:kontroller: the hardware control surface, giving tactile control of channels, groups and placement. It also lets musicians control their own mix without calling for changes.
  • KLANG:quelle and quelle XDM: the :quelle gives four stereo headphone outputs from a Dante feed, powered over Ethernet. The XDM breaks KLANG mixes out to analogue and AES for wired packs and IEM transmitters.
  • DMI-KLANG: the card that puts KLANG processing inside a DiGiCo console, so immersive monitoring lives in the desk instead of a separate rack.

Where it fits

Touring and festival monitor positions, houses of worship with in-ear bands, theatre and broadcast. Anywhere performers spend long stretches on in-ears and the monitor engineer is fighting fatigue as much as balance.

Buying KLANG in the UAE and GCC

This is a product that makes more sense on ears than on paper. As official distributor we supply, configure and support KLANG systems from Dubai, and we run KLANG sessions as part of our masterclass programme. Ask us for a demo before you commit to a specification.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a KLANG system cost?
The range now spans from the compact KLANG:1 to the flagship konductor, so the entry point is considerably lower than it used to be. Tell us your mix count and console and we will quote the processor that fits your setup.
What does immersive in-ear monitoring actually do for a performer?
It places each source in three-dimensional space instead of stacking everything in the centre of the head. The brain then separates the mix the way it does in a real room. Performers typically report greater clarity, easier separation of parts, and less fatigue over a long show, and they often ask for less level, not more.
Which KLANG processor do I need?
The konductor handles 128 inputs and 16 immersive mixes, for full bands and fixed installations. The vokal gives up to 12 mixes in a 1U frame. The 1pro and the lower-cost :1 give a single immersive mix from up to 64 inputs, which suits one artist, a small band, or trialling immersive monitoring before committing. We will size it to your band.
Does KLANG only work with DiGiCo consoles?
No. KLANG processors connect over MADI and Dante and work with other consoles. The integration with DiGiCo SD and Quantum goes further, with control from the desk surface and the DMI-KLANG card putting processing inside the console. Tell us your desk and we will confirm the connection.
How much latency does KLANG add?
Around 0.25ms processing latency across the range, which performers do not perceive.
Do I need the KLANG:kontroller?
Not strictly, but most monitor engineers prefer a hardware surface to driving the system from a screen, and it also lets musicians adjust their own mix. Worth trying both before deciding.
Can I hear a KLANG system before buying?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Contact us for a demo in Dubai. Immersive monitoring is difficult to judge from a specification sheet.
Can we start small and expand later?
Yes. Many productions start by putting only the lead vocalist or the most critical channels through a KLANG processor, then expand as the band asks for it. The :1 and 1pro make that a low-risk starting point.
Do you provide KLANG training?
Yes. We run KLANG sessions as part of our masterclass programme in Dubai, often alongside DiGiCo console training. New dates are announced on our Education page.
