Driver Configuration and Dispersion
A 5-inch coaxial transducer shares its acoustic centre with a 1-inch tweeter, so the tweeter fires through the woofer cone as a built-in waveguide. This coaxial arrangement gives a wide, even 110 degree dispersion pattern that holds together at close listening distances, making the FO 5 well suited to near-field placement rather than long-throw coverage.
Build and Mounting
The cabinet is MDF with an acrylic enamel finish, available in black or white, and is protected by a steel front grille with acoustic foam backing. Rigging options include side and rear threaded points on a VESA-compatible pattern, supporting wall brackets, tilt mounts, and mic-stand adapters from HK Audio's FINEO accessory range. Like the rest of the FINEO line, the FO 5 carries ball-impact certification to DIN 18032-3, so it can go into sports halls and multifunctional venues without a separate speaker swap.
Amplification and DSP Compatibility
As a fully passive design, the FO 5 needs no onboard processing, but HK Audio documents ready-made filter sheets and presets for a wide range of third-party amplifier and DSP platforms, including Lab.Gruppen, QSC Q-SYS, Symetrix, BSS, and Biamp Tesira, which simplifies integration with control systems already in use on a site.
