The S8 is an ultra-compact bandpass subwoofer built specifically for installation work, where a low profile and shallow footprint matter as much as output. It adds low-frequency support to any EM Acoustics loudspeaker system without needing corrective EQ, and is sized to sit comfortably alongside the smaller full-range products in the range.

Driver Configuration

A single 8-inch neodymium LF driver sits inside an optimally-tuned bandpass enclosure, accessed via a removable underside panel. The bandpass loading is what gives this small a box its output, a design choice suited to installations where the box needs to disappear rather than dominate.

Build and Mounting

The 12mm multi-laminate birch-plywood enclosure carries an impact- and weather-resistant polyurethane finish (black or white standard, RAL and outdoor options available). Thirteen M10 threaded points, positioned relative to the enclosure's centre of gravity, let it hang level whether mounted horizontally, on its side, or grille-down, with alternate protective feet positions for side-mounted installs. Recessed locking Phoenix connectors and a chamfered rear edge keep cabling tidy in tight spaces.

Amplifier Compatibility

The S8 needs an active crossover to operate, with a wide range of usable filter points. EM Acoustics' Advanced System Amplifiers are recommended, though other DSP-enabled or externally processed amplifiers work fine with the published settings; the driving channel should deliver 300-400W RMS into 8 ohms.

Applications

Installation work where compact footprint, low height and low weight are the priority, plus general live sound support for the smaller loudspeakers in the range.
