The R5 scales the Reference Series concept down into a compact, three-way format built for front-fill, under-balcony, and other jobs where a discreet cabinet still needs to carry the series' full-range headroom. It brings the same no-compromise approach found in the R8, R10 and R12 to the smallest loudspeakers in a system design.

Driver Configuration

Twin 5-inch neodymium LF/MF drivers pair with a 1.5-inch annular HF compression driver across a bespoke three-way crossover designed to minimise off-axis parallax and lobing. The annular HF diaphragm keeps harmonic distortion low, matching the tonal character carried through the rest of the range.

Waveguide and Dispersion

Two rotatable waveguides, 110 x 50 degrees wide and 80 x 50 degrees narrow, ship as standard, giving one enclosure the flexibility to cover both short-throw and longer-throw positions. Which pattern is installed, and its orientation, remains visible without removing the grille.

Build and Mounting

A birch-plywood enclosure with impact- and weather-resistant polyurethane coating (black or white as standard, RAL and outdoor options available) is paired with tool-free quick-release flying hardware and threaded rigging points for both touring and permanent work.

Amplifier Compatibility

The R5 is amplifier-agnostic by design, with EM Acoustics' DQ and Di Advanced System Amplifiers as the reference recommendation and documented per-channel loading for each.

Front fill and under-balcony coverage in theatres, cafes and bars, corporate and AV spaces, and houses of worship.
