Driver Configuration and Dispersion
The M-C15 is the larger of EM Acoustics’ two coaxial stage monitors, a two-way, reflex-loaded design built around a 15-inch (381mm) neodymium LF drive unit with a coaxial 1.3-inch (33mm) exit HF compression driver, linked by an internal passive crossover. The LF and HF drive units share the same magnet assembly, which reduces weight and enclosure profile. The HF driver feeds a bespoke constant-directivity waveguide producing a 40 x 60 degree (H x V) pattern in monitor orientation and 60 x 40 degrees when used as a front-of-house loudspeaker.
Build and Mounting
The enclosure is built from 15mm multi-laminate birch plywood with an impact and weather resistant textured polyurethane finish, black or white as standard, with RAL colour matching and enhanced weather protection options. A 35mm pole mount is hidden inside one of the handles for stand mounting, and four M8 threaded rigging points accept the optional flying hardware, so the M-C15 also works as a front-of-house or installation loudspeaker. A rigid 2mm stainless steel grille backed with acoustically transparent fabric and supported by steel braces protects the drivers, and two flush handles, protective floor skids and an NL4 connector in a recess at each end complete the hardware.
Amplification and DSP Compatibility
The M-C15 is passive and needs a single amplifier channel capable of 750-1000W RMS into 8 ohms. External DSP with high-pass filters and limiters is recommended for protection, so EM Acoustics’ Advanced System Amplifiers are the recommended partners, including the DQ6, DQ10, DQ20, Di06, Di10 and Di20. DSP-enabled amplifiers from other makers or conventional amplifiers with external DSP can also be used, with settings published on the EM Acoustics website.
