The EMS-81X steps up the EMS Series to an 8-inch low-frequency section, giving more headroom and throw than the EMS-61 while keeping the same multi-angle, stage-monitor-friendly cabinet shape. It is equally at home as a stand-alone full-range box or paired with an EMS or S Series subwoofer, and suits venues needing more output than the smaller EMS models.

Drivers and Dispersion

An 8-inch low-frequency driver is coupled to a 1-inch exit neodymium compression driver on a rotatable 90 x 60 degree constant-directivity waveguide, giving consistent coverage and strong pattern control whichever orientation the box is mounted in.

Cabinet and Rigging

The birch-plywood cabinet carries a black or white textured polyurethane finish as standard, with RAL matching and weather-protected options available. It includes a flush rear handle, a 35mm polemount socket, and threaded fixings compatible with OmniMount Series 30 and Powerdrive Series 75 brackets, plus a stainless steel grille backed with acoustic fabric.

Amplification and Processing

A single amplifier channel delivering 400-500W RMS into 8 ohms is required. The EMS-81X is fully passive and needs no active correction, though external high-pass and limiter protection is recommended when driven from EM Acoustics' Advanced System Amplifiers.

Applications

Mid-power front-of-house, fill, and installed sound reinforcement for theatre, corporate AV, and themed-attraction venues.
