The EMS-61 is a compact two-way passive loudspeaker designed to work equally well as a stand-alone box or as the top element in a full-range system when paired with an EM Acoustics subwoofer such as the S-12 or S-15. Its multi-angle cabinet lets it serve as front-of-house fill, a compact stage monitor, or a fixed-install loudspeaker without changing hardware.

Drivers and Dispersion

A 6.5-inch neodymium low-frequency driver is coupled to a 1-inch exit neodymium compression driver loaded onto a rotatable 90 x 60 degree constant-directivity waveguide. The rotatable horn keeps coverage consistent whether the box is oriented horizontally or vertically, and the reflex-loaded cabinet is shaped to support both orientations plus monitor-wedge use.

Cabinet and Rigging

The birch-plywood enclosure is finished in impact- and weather-resistant textured polyurethane, black or white as standard with RAL matching available. Threaded fixings accept OmniMount Series 30 and Powerdrive Series 75 brackets, and a stainless-steel grille backed with acoustic fabric protects the drivers.

Amplification and Processing

The EMS-61 needs a single amplifier channel capable of 300-500W RMS into 8 ohms. It is a true passive design and needs no active DSP for correct operation, though external high-pass filtering and limiting are recommended for system protection when run from EM Acoustics' Advanced System Amplifiers.

Applications

Front-of-house and fill sound reinforcement for theatre, corporate AV, and installed venues, with stage-monitor capability.
